The 16th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Inter-University Marathon will hold on Saturday November 5, 2011, at Tarkwa in the Western Region.
The 16th Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Inter-University Marathon will hold on Saturday November 5, 2011, at Tarkwa in the Western Region. Organized by GUSA, and hosted by the University of Mines and Technology for the first time, the event would be under the distinguish patronage of Prof. Daniel Mireku-Gyimah, Vice Chancellor of University of Mines and Technology. According to the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the marathon, Mr. Solomon Nunoo, also Sports Co-ordinator of the University of Mines and Technology, the marathon would attract 150 athletes selected from the seven public funded Universities, namely Legon, KNUST, UCC, UEW, UDS, UMaT and IPS. The LOC chairman said the competition, which would be governed by the International Athletics Association Federation (IAAF) rules would see men competing for prizes in a 12 kilometer race, whilst the women would also compete for honours in a distance of 8 kilometers
