Janet Amponsah makes IAAF Championships entry time

Ghana’s sprint queen, Janet Amponsah on Saturday, reached the entry standard to enable her compete at the 2017 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Championships in London.

Amponsah, 24, representing her school JR Mid. Tenn. State at the 2017 Auburn War Eagle Invite in the United States, finished second in the 200m race with a time of 23.10s – the exact cutoff point for the upcoming IAAF Championships in August.

The former T.I Ahmadiya Secondary School runner, ranked 54th in the world in women’s 200m makes the qualification mark but her fate dependent on the qualification times made by the 56 target number of athletes yet to be determined for the event at the London games.

Janet Amponsah has participated at the African Championships, World Junior Championships, Commonwealth Games, All-Africa Games, the Olympics Games, the Middle Tennessee State University student and could be making her first appearance at the IAAF Championships should she be listed.

The 2017 IAAF World Championships is slated for August 4-13 in London.
