Michael Owusu-Peprah (17), the current South-German 100m Youth Champion, has arrived home after three months training in Germany.

When this reporter asked Michael of his impression about Germany, he answered, “the structured system which enforces one to be discipline to benefit from the various social interventions are very impressive”.

Michael’s performance has been very consistent in that, he has been improving his time every now and then. Michael was running 100m under 11 seconds when he first touched the German soil, but when he started his training, he started running under the 10 seconds. Currently he is 4th on the best time list of the German Youth of 100m with 10:86.

His trainers always say, Michael has not developed all his potentials yet. So if he is able to run 100m under 10 seconds at this time, then he is a potential 100m runner that one needs to pay attention to.

The head coach of Michael’s club, Mr. Walter Abmayr is optimistic that, by the next summer, Michael will be a hot cake to compete with.

Michael Owusu-Peprah looks very calm in appearance and that makes him an extraordinary chap who listens attentively to follow instructions. His trainers are very impressed about him.

Michael had hamstring injury when participating in one of the evening competitions in Pfungstadt near Frankfurt. He won the race with 10:89 though, and this is going to be a new stadium record. Upon the advice of his doctor, Dr. Mueller, Michael started to train actively only last Thursday, but that was also his last day of training with his club USC before leaving for Ghana on Sunday.

Before leaving, he received training instructions from his trainers which he needs to be following whilst he is away. This is to make him fit for next year’s winter competitions.

When asked how he sees his future athletic career, he affirmed that the future is bright, and he asked for God’s blessings and good health. He thanked his coaches, Walter Abmyr, Christian Staud, Marius binder and Robin Eberius. He thanked his mother and father through whom his senior got the news about his interest in athletics to facilitate his training in Germany.
