The Third Leg of the Ghana Athletics Association Interplast-Sea & Shore National Circuit Championships will be held at the El Wak Stadium on Saturday, 4th July.
Over 200 athletes are expected to compete for honours following the two successful Circuit championships held ON GRASS in Sunyani and Akatsi in the last two months.
This will also be the first time that the Circuit Championships will be held in the capital after the competition was successfully introduced onto the local athletics scene in 2014 where it was held at four venues in the country: Wa, Sekondi-Takoradi, Koforidua and Kumasi.
The Championships, which aims to promote athletics in every corner of the country, will also see the return of Sea and Shore Services (GH) Ltd as a sponsor, joining Interplast Ghana as the major sponsors of the show piece competition.
The championships have also seen several senior and junior athletes opening their season with notable performances on grass tracks from African 4x100m relay medalist Beatrice Gyaman, who won the women’s 100m in 11.90 sec while John Osei Kofi clocked 21.68 in the 200m final in Sunyani.
The GAA will also use the occasion at the El Wak stadium to thank its 2015 sponsors and contributors, including Interplast Ghana, Maria Tsakos Foundation, Sea & Shore Services (GH) Ltd., Africanus.net, and Delta Airlines. A number of individuals, who have supported GAA’s activities in various ways this year, will also be recognized.
