Cape Coast, Aug. 31, GNA - Northern Region came first with 26 points in the cross country race of the 28th Inter-Regional Sports Festival which ended at the Schools and Colleges Park, Cape Coast on Saturday.
Master Solomon Zebedien of the Northern Region and came first in a time of 22.56.09 minutes over a distance of eight kilometres which attracted a field of 60 competitors.
Eastern Region took the second position with 47 points, Central Region third with 58 points, Brong Ahafo Region fourth with 68 points with the Volta Region placing fifth with 76 points.
Upper East Region took the sixth position with 107 points, Upper West Region seventh with 110 points, Ashanti Region eighth with 123 points, Western Region ninth with 144 points while Greater Accra Region came last with 157 points.
In the Girls Division, Central Region came first with 25 points. Miss Sarah Owusu of the Central Region came first when she made a time of 13.25.07 minute over four kilometres with a field of 60 competitors.
Brong Ahafo Region took the second position with 53 points, Upper East came third with 56 points, Ashanti Region was fourth with 64 points, while Western Region came fifth with 71 points. Northern Region took the sixth position with 77 points, Eastern Region seventh with 112 points, Volta Region was eighth with 122 points, Greater Accra Region ninth with 178 points, while Upper West Region came 10th with 181 points.
