Cape Coast, Feb. 18, GNA - St. Augustine's College bagged 159 points to lift the Zone Three championship trophy of the annual Central Region Inter Schools and Colleges Athletic competition held at the Adisadel school park on Friday.
Mfantsipim Secondary School took the second position with 88 points followed by Asuansi Technical Institute at third position with 81 points with Mankessim Secondary Technical coming fourth with 62 points. Jukwa Secondary Technical placed fifth with 49 and half points while Saltpond Methodist High School came sixth with 44 and half points. In the Girls division, Wesley Girls High School came first with 144 points followed by Holy Child secondary school at second position with 118 points, Jukwa Secondary came third with 88 points while Saltpond Methodist High School followed with 82 points.
Mankessim Secondary Technical came fifth with 34 points with Efutu Secondary school coming last with 30 points.
One record was broken in the competition.
Ms Wendy Boakye of Wesley Girls High School broke the shot putt record with a throw of 10.18 metres to erase the old record of 9.94 metres. Prizes and certificates were presented to deserving athletes. Ms Veronica Fry Annan, Cape Coast Municipal Director of Education in her closing remarks congratulated the athletes for comporting themselves at the games. She asked them to t ake their training seriously to enable them improve on their performance.
