President of the Ghana Athletics Association, Francis Dodoo is worried over the consistent condemnation of athletes under his administration.

He is therefore calling for a stop in the unwarranted criticisms against the athletes.

His comments were in reaction to a recent public outcry by a former Ghanaian athlete Kweku Nimako describing Dodoo’s administration as the worse under any government and gradually plunging the discipline into the gutters.

Nimako also took the opportunity to call on the Sports Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuije to come hard on the former triple jumper’s administration but the GAA boss thinks otherwise.

“It bothers me that they say all these kind of things because they don’t seem to realize that when they talk like that it’s the athletes that they are putting down. These athletes have broken national records 20 times this year already.

“They get angry when they hear these comments and I keep telling them to just calm down and ignore it," he told Starr Sports.

Meanwhile, Team Ghana will present more than 15 athletes for next month’s Africa Championship in South Africa.
