Walkers For Training Tour

Ghanaian walkers are preparing for training tour in Europe as part of preparation towards the up coming All African Games in Algeria as well as other international competitions. The need has arisen since the Ghana Athletics Association, the National sports Council, Ministry of Sports and the IAAF is requesting for the qualifying time of the walkers before they would be selected, sponsored and permitted to take part in some walking competitions. It is in this regard that the Visco walking club has organized its members and other walkers in the country to take part in some competitions in Europe and U.S.

In an interview with the Ace walker, Vincent Asumang, he intimated that racewalking is purely technical in nature. That is why he has advised the club to send the walkers outside the country for competitions to improve their skills and understanding on the rules and regulations of the sport. The secretary of the Visco walking Club, Mr Richard Akoto has called the following walkers to report at the Visco Walking Club Academy in Cape Coast on Saturday 22nd September 2006,before 3:00p.m. They are Jacqueline Aku Bludo (Ghana Police Service), Vincent Asumang (Ghana National Fire Service), Ahmed Tijani Sanni (Ghana Armed Forces, Navy), Abullah Abdul-Fatawu of Tamale.Stanley Brimah, Benjamin Kojo Annan, Francis Kwame Adarkwa, Robert Nelson Annim, Kofi Ali, all of Central region.


The rest are Andrew Quansah, Atta Bright, Prince Frimpong,Eugene Kofi Obeng, Ruth Mansah, Olivia Asamoah, Leyla Mustpher and Godslove Andrews from the Ashanti region. Those from the Western region are Ebenezer Quaicoe, Thomas Quaicoo, Richard Arthur and Isaac Obeng.

The Greater Accra team is made up of John Boamah,Mohammed Sulemen,Shaibu Yusif, Adjei Boateng and Michael Osei Boateng. Eric Kwabena Nuamah, George Nartey, make up the team from Eastern region.Officials areAlbert Nukpezer, Adu Afoako,Frences Amprofi Halh and Bertha Ella Tawiah.
