Department of Accountancy wins Poly athletics

Cape Coast, June 23, GNA - The Department of Accountancy of cape Coast Polytechnic bagged 140 points to lift the championship trophy of the Second edition of the Schools' inter-departmental annual athletic competition held at the University of Cape Coast sports grounds. The Marketing Department took the second position with 113 points while the Engineering Department came third with 58 points. Tourism Department took the first position with 74 points in the Women's category followed by the Accountancy Department with 66 points while Secretaryship Department came third with 44 points. Master Maxwell Gyan of Accountancy Department was declared the best athlete in the Men's division with Ms Ether Abban also of the Accountancy Department was declared the best athlete in the Women's division.

Gyan came first in Javelin, Shot putt, Discuss and Triple jump while Ms Abban also came first in 100 and 200 metres and led a quartet of her Department to win the 4x100 metres race. Mr Felix Menu, Dean of Students commended the athletes for their sportsmanship and gave the assurance that the School's sports field which is under construction will be ready by next year. Cash prizes ranging from 300,000 cedis - 500,000 cedis were presented to outstanding athletes.
