2015 Ghana Basketball Awards slated for July

The second edition of the Ghana Basketball Awards takes place next month, organizers have confirmed.

The 2015 edition of the prestigious award- designed to reward outstanding basketball men and women will hit the Ghanaian capital.

This is the second time that award will take place in the country after the maiden edition in June 2013.

The annual award scheme however could not take place last year due to technical challenges but bounces back in style this year.

"The 2015 Ghana Basketball Awards will take place next month. We are delighted with the progress made so far and we're looking forward to it," coordinator Patrick Akoto said.

"The award scheme started two years ago and it was an exciting moment for all stakeholders.

"However, last year we encountered challenges and so it not take place. But I am happy to inform lovers of the game that the award will happen this year. We'll make the date public in te shortest possible time.

Awards will be competed for in SEVEN categories in both the male and female division.

Categories to be competed for include High School Player of the Year, High School Coach of the Year, Tertiary Player of the Year, MVP of the Year, Team of the Year, Referee of the Year and Coach of the Year.

A carefully selected committee has been put in place to ensure the smooth run of the event, organizers told BASKETBALLghana.com

In 2013 Braves of CEPS star Baniba Dodzie walked away with the top prize after he fended off competition from teammate Hashim Brimah as well as Emmanuel Dickson to win the MVP held in LIVE in the studios of TV Africa.
