Dynasty Basketball Association Founder and Chief Executive Officer Isaac Kwapong has stated 3×3 formerly Three on Three, represents Ghana’s best chance at competing at the world stage.
He made the statement ahead of the final round of games in the just ended FIBA 3X3 Tour at the Lincoln Community Center in Accra over the weekend; the competition was organized by Dynasty Basketball.
Having sponsored a contingent to represent the West African nation in international competitions in previous years, Kwapong believes the manifestation’s of Ghana’s rapid basketball development lies in 3×3.
In light of Ghana’s Basketball Association to fund teams to represent the nation, the young enterprising manager sees the mini form game as the way out for a cash strapped Association stating:
“The financial burden to finance a trip for over 15 individuals to compete outside the country is unbearable for any basketball organisation in Ghana at the moment including the GBBA. This is were FIBA 3×3 comes in with its small size number of players required to play, the interest level of players and the ever growing continental and international tournaments Dynasty Basketball believes that it is an area worth investing in as a sustainable foundation to grow the game of basketball in Ghana”.
Having qualified to this year’s FIBA Africa Under 16 Championships, Ghana failed to make the trip due to acute finances as fellow West African team Mali were crowned Champions.
