DCD Aspirants have clinched its first win of the 2017 Accra Basketball League (ABL) Men’s Division II season in inspiring fashion.
The side beat Tudu Galaxy 78-73 in the opening game of tonight’s round of games at the Lebanon House Court in Tudu.
Aspirants had to win nine game sfor the win but got the win with a spirited performance to win with just two players on the court against a five man Galaxy team.
DCD Point Guard Quincy Mensah scored on a fast break layup to stretch Aspirants lead to 53-43 but first half ended 50-55 for Aspirants after Galaxy scored seven straight points with Anthony Adade draining three point shot and Sulleyman Razak scoring four points.
Razak tied score at 57 with 6:56 remaining in third quarter from free throw but Aspirants drained free throws to give team 61-57 lead.
Game got physical with a lot at stake for both teams with both teams scoring points from the charity stripe.
Joseph Nettey grabbed defensive rebound sending Quicny off to register an assist as Aspirants went up 72-65 up with 1:06 remaining. Sulley drained three point shot to break run but Nettey fouled out with 14 seconds remaining with team leading 76-70.
Nettey’s absence meant Aspirants had just two players on court with eight seconds remaining in game but Quincy’s free throws seeing out
