Nungua Coldstore emerged victorious in the Betway Hoops Basketball Tournament, defeating the Bombers Basketball Team with a commanding score of 37-16. The tournament, held at the Dansoman SSNIT Flat Basketball Court on Saturday, July 27, 2024, saw the reigning champions secure their third consecutive title.
Along with the trophy, Nungua Coldstore received a cash prize of GHS 10,000 and gold medals. The second-placed Bombers Basketball Team took home a cash prize of GHS 5,000. The one-day event featured eight teams, including Swanlakers, Ripple Basketball Academy, Tudu Magic, Charm Basketball, Rams, and DC Keys, with all participating teams receiving branded Betway kits.
Speaking after their triumph, the captain of Nungua Coldstore, Kwame Boamah Djan, expressed his joy over the win. “Winning this tournament for the third time in a row is a testament to our hard work, dedication, and commitment. It’s truly gratifying to see our efforts pay off, and we are looking forward to winning the next edition as well,” Djan said. He also thanked Betway for providing a platform to showcase their skills. “We are grateful for the chance to participate and thank Betway for giving us the opportunity to unveil our skills on the court. We appreciate them for making it happen.”
Kwabena Oppong-Nkrumah, Country Manager – Marketing at Betway Ghana, expressed satisfaction with the event’s turnout and reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to the development of sports in Ghana. He stated that the brand is committed to extending the tournament to other regions in the coming months to help unearth and nurture sports talents across the country. Mr. Oppong-Nkrumah also expressed Betway’s enthusiasm regarding the development of basketball in Ghana and its potential.

We are looking at taking the competition to other regions in the near future to offer every sports person the opportunity to showcase their talent.”
The tournament drew enthusiastic spectators, including Betway Brand Ambassador and former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah.
