Accra Technical University (ATU) Male Basketball Captain Abdul Mutalib Alhassan has been shortlisted in the Sports Category of this year’s UMB Ghana Tertiary Awards. The Combo Guard made the cut in a big pool of talent in the country that had over 53,000 Tertiary students eligible to be nominated.

The award scheme is in its fourth year and launched the latest edition of the highly celebrated event in April earlier this year attracting stakeholders including headline sponsor Universal Merchant Bank (UMB).

Alhassan popularly known as “Valandah” is vying for the Most Influential Student’s Sports Personality Award with female colleague Rabiatu Foli.

The duo won ATU’s version of the Award a few months back after starring for the institution’s dominant performance in the 2017 Polytechnic and Technical University Games.

Valandah led ATU to win this year’s competition weeks after clinching bronze at the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) Basketball Championship.

The decorated player is the 2015 Ghana Basketball Awards Most Valuable Player.
