One hunter dey face murder charges for court afta im bin mistakenly shoot farmer wey dey work for im land thinking say na antelope.

30-year-old Isiaka Audu bin allegedly shoot im colleague for farm for di time wey im dey do im hunting waka inside bush for Ondo state.

Di police for Owo area of Ondo state bin arrest Isiaka Audu for di offence wey happun for December 2023 for one of di villages.

Dem charge di hunter go court but e no get any lawyer wey go represent am wey make di judge rule say make dem keep am for correctional center till wen dem go decide im case.

Local media TheHope report say di prosecuting counsel, Abdullateef Suleiman bin pray to di court make dem keep Isiaka Audu for Olokuta Correctional Centre, Akure for di death of 50-year-old Sodiq Dada.

Suleiman add say di farmer go dey prison for month until wen dem receive advice from di Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) sake of say di offence na murder case.

Di Chief Magistrate court wey sit Oke-Eda area of Ondo state, Akure agree say di hunter go dey prison for shooting his colleague.

Di prosecuting counsel tok say na locally-made single barrel gun wey di hunter dey use hunt animals for bush im go use shoot di old farmer for head and chest wey later lead to di death.

However, Isiaka Audu (di hunter) bin think say na antelope e dey see wen e fire di gunshot wey kill im colleague.

Di wife of di deceased, Mrs Dada tok say di hunter and her late husband bin don get issues of money bifor di incident bin happun.

According to her, Isiaka Audu wey shoot di gun no dey in good terms wit Sodiq Dada sake of say "e get some money wey im dey owe bifor."

Na wen di gun shot bin sound for di farmer body make am shout di name of di pesin wey im see. Na di name of di hunter Isiaka Audu di deceased bin shout wey make di wife know say na him shoot di gun.

Wetin di law tok for murder case?

Di court no accept di plea of di defendant sake of say di charges dey against Section 316(1) and 319(1) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo, 2006.

According to section 316 of di criminal code, e stipulate say "if death dey caused by wilful stopping of breath of any person or if death dey caused by one act wey dey unlawful, na murder case."

Chief magistrate Tope Aladejana wey rule ontop di case order say make dem keep di defendant Okitipupa Correctional Centre till dem go attend to di mata again for April 25 2024 after dem go don collect advice from di director of prosecution.
