Di Federal Controller of Works for Lagos state, Olukorede Kesha tok say di closure of some sections of di bridge na to carry out maintenance works on parts of di bridge wey need repair.
She tok say di work go begin wit di two access ramps to Adekunle wey go dey closed to traffic.
Madam Kesha explain say “wetin dis one mean na say if you dey come from Iyana Oworo, you fit go straight. And if you dey go Lagos Island, di bridge go still free for you. But you no go fit go Adekunle if you dey come from Iyana Oworo.
"Motorists wey dey come from Lagos-Ibadan Expressway/Toll Gate/Ogudu axis inwards Lagos Island would no go fit access Adekunle/Ebute-Metta from di Third Mainland Bridge,” she tok.
She give assurance say di Third Mainland Bridge go dey open and free for use except for those wey wan connect to Adekunle from di bridge.
Lagos state goment repair advisory and alternative routes
Meanwhile, di Lagos state goment don release repairs advisory to guide motorists and provide alternative routes dem fit follow during di repair period.
Di Special Adviser on transportation to Lagos state govnor, Sola Giwa tok say di repair works go dey in two phases.
Di first phase of repair go start for 6 November and go last for two weeks. Di closure of:
- Ramp inward Adekunle from Oworonshoki
- Ramp inward Adekunle from Lagos Island.
Phase two of di repair go start for 20 November and go last for three weeks. Di closure of:
- Ramp outward from Adekunle to Oworonshoki
- Ramp outward from Adekunle to di Island

Motorists from Lagos Island wey dey go Ebute Meta go dey diverted to Ilubirin to connect Carter Bridge (Idumota Bridge) to link Iddo inwards Otto/Oyingbo axis and access Herbert Macaulay Way to link dia desired destinations.
Motorists from Victoria Island need go through Bonny Camp to Onikan Marina Bridge, Apogbon to Eko Bridge, Costain to Apapa road, Railway Compound to Alagomeji, Glover road to Apena junction, Herbert Macaulay way to reach dia destinations.
Motorists from motorways go dey diverted to Ikorodu road (Ojota, Anthony, Onipanu, Fadeyi) and Jibowu to access Herbert Macaulay way to continue dia journey.
Motorists from Gbagada fit go through Anthony Interchange to link Ikorodu road inward Jibowu to access Herbert Macaulay way and link go dia desired destinations.
Motorists from Apapa-Oshodi expressway wey wan link Ebute-meta dey advised to link Oshodi bridge to town planning way to Ikorodu road, and den link to dia various destinations.

Goment bin also close di bridge to carry out maintenance work for 2002 and 2012 according to Nigeria minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi.
Lagos State goment shut down di Third Mainland Bridge from midnight of Thursday 23 August to midnight of Sunday 26 August 2018 to cari out Investigative Maintenance Test.
