States wey still dey observe curfews after ‘hunger protest’ turn violent for di North

Some Northern states for Nigeria don partially relax di curfew wey dem impose afta di nationwide protest wey start on 1 August turn violent for some areas.

But residents still dey feel di pinch of di hardship wey di protest kasala don cause for dem as business owners don suffer low patronage while some relatives dey saddened ova di victims wey die during di protest.

Di protest dis year come as Nigerians dey witness high cost of living expenses in di kontri history

Protesters come out in dia numbers for a ten-day nationwide protest with a demand of good governance from political leaders.

While for di South di protests bin dey relatively peaceful, for di North some states witness some level of looting and violence.

Northern states goment such as Kano, Yobe, Kaduna, Jigawa impose curfew on di residents afta reports of looting and violence during di protest.

States wey still dey observe curfews and when

Yobe state: Mamman Mohammed, tok-tok pesin to di govnor, say dem go now start curfew from 6:00pm to 6:00am, on Wednesday..

Kano state: Di state goment don review di curfew now from 6.00pm to 6.00am pending further review. Pipo fit come out and conduct dia businesses from 6.00am to 6.00pm daily.

Kaduna state: Police tok-tok person Manir Hassan confirm to BBC say dem don relax di curfew for di state from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

Plateau state: Di state Govnor Caleb Mutfwang release statement wey im order di 24-hour curfew wey dem impose in di capital to dey relaxed from 12 noon to 6:00pm wey go permit residents to move freely within that time.

Jigawa state: Tok-tok persion to di Govnor Hamisu Muhammad Gumel tok say di curfew don dey lifted entirely in 19 local governments of di state.

While for di 8 oda local government areas for Jigawa, di curfew still dey on but dem don relax am from 6:00pm to 5:00am.

Di local governments be: Dutse, Gumel, Hadejia, Kazaure, Roni, Babura, Birnin Kudu, Kiyawa.

'Di curfew don put me for wahala'

"Normally, if I go market, I fit make 1000 or 1500 Naira. I go use 500 do transport, and keep 500 to carry go house so we fit see someting chop."

"But afta dem lock market, I enter serious wahala becos nothing dey house to chop. Sometimes, I go try get food loan from shops for di area, but later dem stop to give me credit."

E add say, "Now if I tell pipo wetin I don go through dat time, dem go tink say I dey lie be dat. Di situation I face I no fit describe am."

"I even fall sick during di Curfew, but becos I no get money to go hospital, I just stay house and manage am. If to say I fit go out, maybe I for fit make small money go hospital make dem check me."

Last last, e tok say plenty pipo dey like am wey dey work for market, and now wey market don open again, anything wey dem make, na to pay back di debt wey dem collect during di curfew.

Usman Muhammad wey be Keke Napep driver for Katsina tok say even now, di market never fully recover sake of say even if dem go out, dem no dey see passengers for road, even say dem don relax di curfew. Dis kind situation don put am for tight corner, especially as e get family wey dey depend on am.

Muhammad tok say, "Afta dem start di curfew for Katsina, all di food wey I get don finish, sometimes na just to manage."

"Afta dem bin relax curfew wen I carry my Keke go out, I no dey see passengers, so I dey return home witout making much."

"I dey beg goment make dem pity us, make dem lift di curfew for the whole state so we fit continue to find someting chop."

'We loss billions of Naira during sake of di curfew'

Chairman of Singa Market, Alhaji Musa Ibrahim, tok say dem suffer big loss, wey fit reach two to three billion Naira, during the time wey dem put curfew for Kano.

E explain say, for just one shop, one trader fit do business wey pass 300 million Naira, and plenty shops dey like dat for di market.

E talk say, "We see serious setback for our business afta dem put curfew."

"We lose more dan two or three billion Naira for di few days wey we no fit come market to do business."

Dis tin affect evribodi for di market sake of say na daily trade we dey rely on to do business."

Alhaji Musa still add say if not for di curfew, di loss wey dem for face for big pass if hoodlums come loot dia goods.

E explain say dem hear say some pipo bin plan to come dia market to steal goods from dia shops, sake of di curfew dem no fit.
