UK born Mixed Martial Artist Theophilus Nelson popularly known as TJ Nelson says he still has a future in the sport despite his humiliating defeat to his Ghanaian opponent Isaac Commey.

Commey knocked out TJ in as early as the second round of their highly public fight, with the Accra based Commey using his experience and technique to outpunch and outkick his opponent.

Soon after the bout TJ was admitted to the hospital for further checks before he was later discharged to return to his camp.

The London based artist has however blamed poor organization as the cause of his defeat, but says he has learned from the experience and would bounce back even stronger in the coming months.

TJ arrived in Ghana six days to the bout and was unable to properly train outline with his coaches because he was allegedly compelled do an extensive media tour to whip up interest in the sport and his fight.

He claims the numerous media tours left him drained and unprepared for the big fight.

“There was a lot of obstacles that came up during the week of the fight with the media and stuff, we are not used to doing media on fight week in the UK and you know what the traffic in Ghana is like.”

According to TJ the organizers could have done better with the conditioning of the room and event for the fight.

“Fighting in Africa is a different ball game than fighting in UK. I came out in the first round and I would say I won the first round. I was choking in the first couple of minutes into the fight and after the first round I could feel the exhaustion and it started to take a toll on me, I had no energy left.”

He added, “I think they could have done better with the air conditioning and the venue we were fighting at.”
