Ghana host Burkina Faso in Rugby friendly

Ghana’s determination to excel at this year’s Confederation of Africa Rugby (CAR) championship takes centre stage this Saturday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi when the Black Eagles take on neighbours, Burkina Faso in a friendly international game.

The National Rugby team were impressive at last year’s continental tournament in Togo and the determination to do even better at this year’s event scheduled for Niger in early June is the reason why the Ghana Rugby Association (GRA) are organizing this friendly with the neighbours to the North to sharpen Team Ghana’s readiness to take n the rest of Africa.

Consequently the first ever Rugby 15s League which kicked off barely a fortnight ago has served its’ purpose of recruiting top stars to team up and make Ghana proud. And according to the chief of the sport in this country, Ghana is on course to reap more rewards from Rugby in the days, weeks, months and years ahead. She explains that the idea to make Ghana’s national rugby team stronger is the main motive behind the main reason why the 15s League has been launched in its current full throttle.

“15s is the main event in rugby, the World Cup and major tournaments are all 15s competitions. We are determined to play along the very best in world rugby so it’s important that we don’t relegate the 15s to the background because that’s all rugby is about,” said GRA (AKA Ghana Rugby Football Union) President, Gifty Annan-Myers exclusively.
