1000 Ghanaians Expect At Ghana Festival In Virginia USA

Three government representatives will join an estimated 1,000 Ghanaians at the 3-day Ghana Festival in Fair Lakes, Virginia this summer. They include Mr. Kwasi Abeasi, Chief Executive of the Ghana Investment Promotion Center; Steve Asamoah-Boateng, Deputy Minister of Information; and Kwabena Antwi, PR Manager, Ghana Investment Promotion Center. The historic gathering, scheduled for July 3-6, will feature a concert with Kojo Antwi, a cultural and fashion show, a trade fair and a business conference with panel sessions on technology & business, engineering & agriculture, education, health, and NEPAD/ECOWAS development.

The 2003 Ghana Festival is also being held in Berlin, Germany and Pretoria, South Africa. The Berlin Ghanafest will take place on Thursday, July 3, 2003 with a Symposium on Health in Africa in the 21st Century. Venue: Audi Max at the Free University Berlin. The Ghana Festival is an occasion to:

  • (1) Celebrate the Ghanaian culture
  • (2) Exchange ideas on Ghanaian development issues at a business conference
  • (3) Promote Ghanaian companies abroad and firms doing business in Ghana Highlights of the GhanaFest in Fair Lakes, Virginia, which is being hosted by the Ghana Cyber Group in collaboration with the Ghana Embassy in Washington, DC.

Alumni groups of all Ghanaian schools (primary, secondary, university) to set up booths at the July 4th Reunion picnic to:

    (i) Enroll new members for their respective associations
    (ii) Raise funds for their alma mater
    (iii) Host a school-specific get-together right at the Ghana Festival
Business Conference, July 5
Keynote speaker: Isaac Aggrey, Interim Ambassador of Ghana to the United States. Panel sessions on technology & business, engineering & agriculture, education, health, and NEPAD/ECOWAS development.

Fashion Show, July 5
Models Nana Adwoa Abeasi and Nana Akosua Dwemoh Benneh will host the 2nd Annual Ghana Festival Fashion Show.
