Ghana's Ambassador to Cote D'Ivoire, H.E. Kabral Blay-Amihere last Friday interacted with various Ghanaan communities as part of the Abidjan Mission's outreach programme.
The aim of the programme that will be extended to other towns in Cote D'Ivoire aims at keeping Ghanaians in the country informed about developments at home. The Mission will also use these meetings to know the problems facing Ghanaains with a view to promoting their welfare.
The delegation of the Ambassador which included Mr. Ramses J. Cleland, Head of Chancery, Mr. George Blankson, Minister Counsellor and Mr.Edward. K. Cofie, First Secretary(Consular/Welfare) paid courtesy calls on Alhaji Issah Balorabe, the former President and current Father of the Ghanaian National House of Chiefs, Nana Appiah-Amoaning, the current President at Treichville and Yoppogun, suburbs of Abidjan respectively. The delegation also visited the offices and station of the Inter-City STC company.
At the various encounters, Ambasssador Blay-Amihere called on Ghanaians in Cote D'Ivoire to remain united and respect the laws of the host country.
He said all Ghanaians, home and abroad should cherish the unity we enjoy today, adding that we should congratulate ourselves that we remain a united and peaceful country after 49 years of independence.
Ambassador Blay-Amihere urged the chiefs to encourage parents to educate their children, particularly girls and further urged them to sensitize the Ghanaian community about the HIV-Aids pandemic.
He assured the Ghanaian community of the continued support of the Mission. He also called for the participation of the Ghanain community in programmes to commemorate the 50th Indepedence celebration of Ghana next year.
At the premises of the Inter-City STC company in Treichville, the Manager, Mr. Joseph Kwadwo Amoah briefed the delegation about the operations of the company whose routes extend to Ghana, Togo, Burkina Fasso and Benin.
Speaking at a durbar with the staff of Inter City STC Company, Ambassador Blay-Amihere commended the management and staff for their performance and urged thm to work even harder fo greater success.
According to Ambassador Blay-Amihere, the extensive operations of the company throughout the sub-region gave true meaning to the ideals of the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS.) and asked the management and staff to continue offering reliable and friendly service.
