Agave Developmental Association (ADA) is a UK based Ghanaian group and also a member of the United States based powerhouse; CEANA. Led by its chairperson, Mercy Adede Bolus, Julius Gamor, Organizing Secretary and their team, ADA is organizing its 5th fundraising event to help make a difference in the Agave community in Ghana. Since its inception, ADA has been brainstorming and always finding ways to support education, health and other matters relating to their town.
They have put together many projects and some are in the works including the building of classrooms, educational supplies and visits from members constantly to monitor the state of affairs in the village. They are eradicating the use of floors as writing slates used by kids.
The fundraising event will take place on Saturday, February 19th at Brixton Town Hall in London and would be featured exclusively on Ghanaweb. Among the invited personalities include; Mrs. Borde Cofie, daughter of Mr. Inkumsah, a former Cabinet Minister in Nkrumah's regime. She will also be the chairperson for the day. The Chief of Akortor; Volta Region, Queenmother of Nungua, Representatives from Virgin Airlines, Ms Efua Gyeabour Yeboah, Manager, Pan Afrique Travel and Tours and Fritz Kodagrade Banjit, one of the Sri Lankan lawyer's leading the tsunami relief efforts in U.K.
Mr. Isaac Osei, Ghana's High Commissioner to UK sends his best wishes. Also in attendance would be English students who offered the opportunity to live and work among the Agave school children in 2003 and their families, British University students and Adisadel College old boys.
There will be a display of tangible evidence of the association?s progress and how it is making a difference. Ghanaians in UK are encouraged to participate. Supporting this endeavour goes a long way to making a difference.
