A leading member of the New Patriotic Party in Germany, Mr Kwaku Anane-Gyinde has stated that Nana Akufo-Addo, the NPP Presidential Candidate for the 2012 election will be the best candidate to secure victory for the party in 2016.

According to him, Akufo-Addo has become a household name not just in Ghana, but across the globe and as such the party will have no problem marketing him if he decides to contest the elections in 2016.

Speaking at the End of Year get together organised by the NANA LADIES in Dusseldorf over the weekend Mr Anane-Gyinde who is the Director of Communications NPP-Germany insisted that but for the fraud perpetrated by the electoral commission and later endorsed by the now disgraced Supreme Court Akufo-Addo would have been President adding “it is therefore imperative for the party to recognise and accept the reality that Akufo-Addo is our biggest asset if we want to win in 2016”

He admitted that, in the NPP, leaders are democratically elected and not appointed, as such suggestions from certain quarters that Nana Akufo-Addo is being imposed is rather misleading and unfortunate stressing “anybody who makes this argument is either ignorant of the party’s constitution or does not understand the core values, beliefs and principles of the Busia-Dankwa-Dombo tradition.”

Mr Anane-Gyinde called on all aspiring candidates to demonstrate the highest level of civility in the conduct of their campaigns and focus on issues rather than attacking other potential candidates saying that at the end of the day delegates will vote for the candidate with the best programmes and policies to move the party forward.

Earlier in her welcome address, the President of Nana Ladies in Germany, Mrs Margret Kumah, assured the party leadership of their readiness to assist and support in the 2016 elections to ensure outright victory. She urged other women to join in the efforts to recruit more women into the NPP.
