His Excellency Dr. Kwame Bawuah-Edusei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA, hosted a Town Hall Meeting for the Ghanaian Community in the Washington Metro area at the premises of the Embassy last weekend.

Speaking at the well attended ceremony Dr. Bawuah-Edusei disclosed that the government's prudent management of the economy coupled with its respect for democratic principles has endeared the country to the international community, as a result of which the government continues to receive support for its accelerated development agenda.

He urged the diasporan community to take advantage of the varied opportunities offered by the African Growth and Opportunities Act (AGOA) and the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) and the attractive investment climate to invest in Ghana.

He informed the gathering that the Embassy will be playing a coordinating role regarding the year long programme announced by the government to mark the 50th independence anniversary. The Washington Mission, in consultation with the Council of Ghanaian Association (COGA) and friends of Ghana who have played a vital role in the growth and development of Ghana and our young democracy, had also outlined a 10-day programme to mark the occasion in a grand style. Activities to be organized during the period include seminars/workshops, multi-cultural show, and trade and investment promotion forum.

He assured the Ghanaian community that "the doors of the Ghana Embassy are always widely open to the general public to provide support and services to them as well as facilitate the promotion of the Ghanaian culture, education, trade and investment to contribute to the realization of Ghana's status as a gateway to West Africa."
