A computer laboratory and library valued at 100,000 US dollars have been commissioned at Whuti in the Keta Municipality by the Volta Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Ford Kamel.

The computer laboratory with 24 computers and a library were provided by Mr. Jim Lancaster an American philanthropist.

Mr. Kamel commended Mr. Lancaster for providing opportunities to the youth in the area to become computer literates and urged parents at Whuti to ensure that their children visited the library regularly.

Mr. Lancaster said he mobilized funds from the World Bank and individuals in America for the facility when on his initial visit to the area, he saw the need for such facilities there.

Mr. Lancaster, who for the past two years had been paying the salaries of the facility’s four attendants, suggested that the community could generate funds from the computer laboratory to finance other projects.

Togbui Nyaho Tamakloe V, Dufia of Whuti, gave the assurance that the facilities would be judiciously used and maintained.**
