It's that time again; Ghana will be celebrating its 54th independence on the 6th of March - The day the country pioneered a revolution in to become the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to gain political independence in 1957. 54 years on and the country is still cited as an example of stability and steady growth. With their tremendous success in events in the UK and Ghana such as Hiplife Festival, the Kente Dance and the annual Ghana Independence celebration, Alordia Promotions, Westcoast and DJ Abrantee in association with Choice FM are bringing you this year's Independence celebrations but with a surprise.

For the first time in the UK, the event will be taking place at the o2 Indigo, home to some of the biggest mainstream events such as the Brit Awards and the National Television awards. Choice FM’s very own DJ Abrantee and Comedian Eddie Kadi will host the event and it is poised to be the best yet. Abrantee said, "This years event is going to be wicked. We have a superstar line up, superstar venue and the only Official Ghana independence celebration that will be an absolute roadblock that you certainly don’t want to miss”

“We are not drastically making any changes, just making it bigger and better,” he added Performers include Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan aka Baby Jet who will be showing love to all the African girls with his track African Girls. Gyan will be performing alongside Hiplife heavyweight Castro who recently released his fourth album "Back to Sender".

When asked why he decided to feature a footballer on his album, Castro said " Asamoah Gyan was into music before he began playing football professionally. I didn't feature him because he is a household name in football but because I knew he is talented and he would deliver, which he has" Other performers include Ghana's finest Hiplife artists 5Five, Iwan and a cultural performance by Tesaa cultural troupe.
