A grand parade of Citizens and friends of Brong Ahafo region residing in the united states and Canada converged at NewYork amid drumming and dancing of traditional music took place over the weekend in their annual convention . The two-day event included dinner/dance . The event was organized by the Council of Brong Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA)
The objective is to mobilize the citizens and friends of Brong Ahafo residents in North America and utilize such unity towards supporting the Sunyani government hospital and providing scholarship education for the youth. The event took place at crown plaza hotel in New york.
Special guests included the current the paramount ruler of yeji Traditional area, the Regional Minister; Hon. Eric Opoku, Nana Nyamah Queen Mother of Sunyani , Theresa Yeboah Afari a registered nurse from Dorma Ahenkoro, Prince Adjei Boakye and Several delegates from cities in the USA and Canada attended the event.. In attendance to grace the occasion was the Regional Minister Honorable Eric OPOKU, .The following Brong Ahafo Associations in the United States were present. The main aim of the event is to ship one full container of hospital equipment to the Sunyani Government hospital as well as bedsheets according to vice president of COBAANA, Dan Asante . .The Hon. Minister of the Region, Eric Opoku stressed that his government was doing its part in sponsoring students from the region to per sue doctoral courses in medicine with the main aim of providing enough medical doctors for the region . . back home that the region will be hosting in 2015 .. Mr. Opoku made known to the Brong Ahafo citizenry that the current administration of Ghana led by His Excellency John Mahama have constructed five 5 additional poly clinics in the region alone and also the provided of $7 million to refurbish the Sunyani government hospital . He extended greetings from the President and people of Ghana, and citizens of the Brand-Ahafo Region to members of COBAANA. Mr. Opoku further appealed to members of COBAANA and individuals to come home to invest in development projects to supplement the efforts of the government.
