C19m Worth Donation to the Akropong PTC Demonstration Middle JSS

Dr Alex Aniapam Boafo on behalf of the Alumni of the Akropong PTC Demonstration Middle JSS Alumni living in New York has presented a check for 12.5 million cedis to the Endowment Fund of the School at a Ceremony in the School on Monday the 15th of December. The fund was established during the Golden Jubillee Celebrations of the School. In addition 170 dozen pens and 10 dozen socks worth 6.5 Million Cedis were presented to the School on behalf of Mrs Audrey Brown a Jamaican Lady also in New York who has adopted the School.

Speaking at the ceremony Dr. Boafo himself an Alumni and a Gynecologist in New York stressed the need for quality education and implored the students and teachers to approach education with the utmost seriousness. He borrowed for the United Negro Foundation Phrase and said that "The Mind was a terrible thing to waste." He indicated that the Alumni would work relentlessly to help improve the quality of education in the school. He cited particulalry the School library project, the Computer lab and indicated that he would help the school establish a WebSite.

Dr. Boafo took the opportunity to address the Students on the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS and admonished the children and Staff alike to make choices that will eliminate the acquisition of the HIV virus let alone its subsequent spread.

The DCE of Akwapim North Dr. Quist, The Rev Ahwiren the The District Cordinator of the Presbyterian Church, The Headmaster of the Presbyterian Training College and the Headmaster of the School all in their addresses thanked Dr. Boafo and the Alumni in New York and hoped that their action will be emulated by others.
