COGNAI to meet in Verona

The Council of Ghana Nationals Association in Italy (COGNAI) is meeting in the Italian city, Verona, on Saturday 18th October.

Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy, His Excellency Charles Agyei-Amoama will address the Council members and be making a statement on the recent attacks on Ghanaians in Italy. The Ghanaian Statesman will also present a full report on the Ghana’s 50th year of Independence celebration held last year.

The General Secretary of the Council, Gilbert Abasimi, speaking about the meeting said it will focus on a National Conference, a workshop for Ghanaians community leaders in Italy and the Miss Ghana beauty contest to be held in the city Brescia on November 8.

The Council will also discuss Ghana’s Independence Day celebration in 2009, a National Festival which will feature traditional games, cultural display and other programs.

It’s the second meeting of COGNAI this year and the over 20 Ghanaians’ Associations in Italy are expected to be represented.
