The joy of the Lord is the strength of Christians. Members of the Church of the Ghanaian community of Chicago joyfully honored their Senior Pastor, Rev. Canon Robert Koomson with a gift they believe came from God to cheer the Pastors Heart.

The Pastor, Rev. Koomson came to Church in an old car that drains the anti-freeze so quickly, the Senior Pastor had to refill the car frequently with anti-freeze on his way to preach to his congregation; who are mostly Ghanaian immigrants. Unaware that his congregation has bought a Van for him,Reverend Koomson was totally surprised but obviously elated, when members of the Church gathered in the parking lot of the church premises immediately after the days service, handed a set of keys to a Toyota Seana to him! The gift almost drew Reverend Koomson into tears of joy!

In sanctifying the gift, Dr. Gabriel Amoatin-Boahen noted that the Senior Pastor, Rev. Canon Koomson preaches from his heart and that the Senior Pastor’s commitment and dedication to his calling is a great source of inspiration and encouragement to all. Dr. Gabriel summarized his message by saying that "I am glad I'm going to ride with you”; which drew laughter from the congregation. The dedication of the van, was done by the parishioners led by Dr. Gabriel Amoatin-Boahen.

Earlier the President of the Ghana National Council, John Henry Assabill and Abraham K. Akuamoah were formally accepted into the church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago and were each presented with a Bible and the Constitution of the Church. Selassie and Emefa Hadzide were also honored by the Church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago for their service to the Church. Each of them received a Bible.
