Chief Justice commends Fordham's Leitner Center and Prof. Galizzi.

The Chief Justice of Ghana, Mrs. Georgina Wood, has commended the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice at Fordham Law School and Professor Paolo Galizzi supporting of Ghana's judiciary. Mrs. Wood described Professor Galizzi as "a true friend of the judiciary" and underscored his advocacy efforts to improve access to justice through interactions with the Legal Aid Board, the Prisons Service and other agencies.

The Chief Justice also praised the Association of Ghanaian Lawyers of America (AGLA) for taking the initiative to honor Professor Galizzi and the Leitner Center for their tireless efforts to enhance the work of the judiciary through capacity building and providing educational opportunities for Ghana's judges at Fordham University and St. John's University in New York. The Chief Justice described "the relationship between the judiciary of Ghana and the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice and its advocate, Prof. Paolo Galizzi, [as] a quintessential example of progress and development forged in the crucible of honest partnership underpinned by mutual respect and understanding." Mrs. Wood thanked Galizzi and the Leitner Center for their impact, and AGLA for spotlighting them at its annual awards to be held in New Jersey, on September 19, 2015. "We are humbled by Madam Chief Justice's comments and pleased to recognize relationships with our judiciary that are steeped in mutual respect and genuine advocacy."

Ghana's UN Ambassador to headline AGLA dinner dance.

Ghana's new Permanent Representative to the UN, Mrs. Martha Pobee, who will personally headline the event, noted "with appreciation, the very remarkable achievements of our good friend, Paolo Galizzi, and the assistance he continues to render to Ghana." The ambassador endorsed "the excellent relations between various Ghanaian institutions and the Leitner Centre for International Law and Justice of the Fordham Law School and the very special cooperation developed over the years," and added that she "looks forward to joining AGLA on the 19th September, 2015 to honor Paolo Galizzi and the Leitner Centre for International Law and Justice." Her Excellency, Mrs. Martha Pobee, Ghana's first female to be appointed Permanent Representative to the UN.

AGLA is set up to provide a forum for Ghanaian Lawyers in the United States to address matters relevant to their profession, to advocate and support the advancement of Ghana and its people while serving as a dominant link between Ghana and the United States.
