The National Sports Authority has shed light on the sporting disciplines that fall within the category of ‘non-contact sports’.
In his tenth address on the coronavirus pandemic, delivered last night, President Akufo-Addo announced that events of certain sporting disciplines can be held while others including football remain banned until further notice.
“I have by order of Executive Instrument [EI] provided for these new directions and extended the suspension of the remaining public gatherings as set out in EI.64 of 16th March until 31st July," the president said.
He added: "In here, I refer to the suspension of sporting events, night clubs, cinemas, drinking spots, bars, beaches, festivals, funerals, political rallies and large religious gatherings such as crusades and conventions.
The NSA, in a statement signed by its acting PRO, listed the sporting federations that can organize events with strict adherence to the safety protocols.
