Danso Boafo Addressed Ghanaian Adventists In Europe

Telford, England -- Ghanaians have been advised to be wary of deceitful individuals who dishonestly present themselves to them as ‘men of God’ but are very treacherous in character.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, Professor Kwaku Danso Boafo who gave the advice noted that many church leaders in the country have nothing to show by way of good morals and divine direction but have rather assumed the role chiefly for their selfish ambition and desire.

He said the recent wide spread of alleged raping of married women, swindling and defrauding of innocent individuals by the so called ‘men of God’ should serve as an eye opener to the populace.

The Ghanaian Envoy made this known after addressing the 17th annual Euro- Ghanaian Adventists Campmeeting at Telford in England.

Nearly one thousand five hundred Ghanaian Adventists from around Europe attended the weeklong Camp meeting under the theme, ‘Encounter with Christ – Being a true Adventist in the Last days.’ There were also delegates from the USA and Ghana.

The members were taken through marital, economic, educational, social and biblical lessons to equip them for challenges ahead of them.

Special prayers were also said for the President of the Republic, citizens and the entire development and peace of the country.

He called Ghanaians not to allow themselves to be manipulated by people who have no moral grounds to lead them as church leaders. He expressed the view that such people have nothing to offer their followers but rather just playing no the frustration and in some cases the ignorance of the people.

‘When you pray to God he can lead you to his own men and not people who appear in sheep skin but themselves are wolves.’ He advised

Professor Danso Boafo praised the Adventists church for its efforts in helping to provide meaningful education for the youth of the country. He said the church’s first private university in the country, the Valley View University, has not only galvanised the establishment of private universities in the country to augment government efforts but has also produced graduates who are contributing enormously to the socio-economic development of Ghana.

“Most of these products of Valley View who could not be admitted into government universities may have been somewhere else. Valley View University has also unearthed and developed many untapped talents for Ghana, and this is a resounding legacy for the Adventist church.” He noted.

He praised the efforts of the church in helping to provide education at all levels to the people of Ghana, and pledged the support of the government towards the church’s efforts.

The outgoing Chairman of the Ghanaian-Euro Seventh-day Adventists Churches, Dr. Andrews Ewoo, said Adventists would continue to contribute their quota to the development of the nation as part of the church’s policies and principles.

He said Ghanaian Adventists in Europe have helped in the provision of facilities at the Valley View University and other health and educational facilities in the country.

Dr. Ewoo who is returning to Ghana after a five-year duty tour as the head of the Ghanaian - Amsterdam Adventist Church was full of praise to the members for their commitment and dedication that has seen the steady growth of the church in Europe.

Pastor Charles Asare-Bediako, the Head Pastor of the Stuggart Ghanaian Adventist Church was elected to replace Dr. Ewoo.

The meeting was also addressed by the Mayor of Telford and Wrenkin, Mr. Malcolm Smith who praised the Ghanaian community in the area for their hard work.
