The longest serving Asantefuohene of the Asanteman Association of Texas (Dallas-Fort. Worth), and of the Asanteman Council of North America, Nana Osei Owusu Asibey-Bonsu was installed chief of his home association in 1995, and had since been a loyal servant of the Asanteman Golden Stool.
An ardent advocate of the Asante chieftancy and traditional norms, Nana continually pursued an avenue for inculcating Asante traditional values and cultural practices in the children born to Diasporan Asantes. Together with other chiefs of the ACONA family, Nana was working tirelessly to establish a traditional House of Chiefs and cultural centers across North America, when he met his untimely death on October 9, 2010
We shall all miss a great traditional and civil leader whose sudden death came as one of the most shocking events not only to his Family, but to the elders and members of the Asanteman Association of TX (DFW), the Asanteman Council of North America, ACONA, and the entire Ghanaian community in the Dallas-Forth Worth Metro Area.
