Derek Boateng gives to Children's Home

Accra, Dec 19, GNA - Black Stars midfielder, Derek Boateng has donated cash and food items to the Osu Children's Home. The items worth 10 millions cedis include bags of rice, sugar, tins of milo ans cartoons of milk among others.

In addition, the Black Stars player, who plies his trade in Israel with Beitar Jerusalem also gave six millions cedis to the orphanage. Boateng told the press after the ceremony that he was moved by the plight of the children in the Home, adding that the gesture was a show of appreciation to God for his life.


He promised to remain a regular supporter of the home by donating to them anytime he is in the country on holidays.

The midfielder a member of Ghana's squad that participated in the 2006 World Cup in Germany appealed to the teachers and supervisors of the orphanage to continue with their good work for the home. Madam Agnes Abolimpoh, a caseworker at the orphanage expressed appreciation to the player for coming to the aid of the orphanage. She called on Boateng to remain a friend of the orphanage by supporting them annually.


Boateng later interacted with the children of the orphanage. The player is currently on holidays in the country following a short break in the Israeli league.
