Denver, Colorado, USA -- The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu ll, has appealed to Ghanaians living abroad, particularly those in the United States of America (USA) and Canada, to support efforts being made by the government and traditional authorities to develop the nation.
He urged them to put Ghana first in whatever they do and added that “the economic conditions at home may be harsh but Ghana is still your motherland and must be put on the path of sustainable development”.
Nana Agyemang Badu ll was addressing Ghanaians in Denver in the State of Colorado, USA, during the official inauguration of the Brong Ahafo Association at the Red Lion Hotel in Denver, Colorado.
The occasion was also used to raise funds to support development projects in Dormaa in particular and Brong Ahafo Region in general.
Nana Badu ll said many people risk their lives to travel abroad to seek greener pastures and it is important that such people concentrate on their objective so that their prosperity may reflect in the lives of their compatriots at home.
He mentioned education and health as areas which need urgent attention and appealed to the people to support the two sectors, pointing out that beds and medicine are needed in the hospitals while schools around the country are in desperate need of books and computers.
The Chairman of the Ghana Council in Colorado, Mr De-souza, on behalf of Ghanaians in Colorado, promised to send medical supplies to some selected hospitals in Ghana.
He gave the assurance that members will take advantage of the numerous opportunities and resources in the USA and Canada to support development efforts in Ghana.
Ghanaian associations represented at the ceremony included the Asante Kuo, Ewe and Ga societies and the Unity Club of Ghanaians Abroad.
Nigerian and Ivorian associations were also represented. Other activities held to honour the chief included picnics and site-seeing tours.
Nana Agyemang Badu will also visit Chicago and other places, including New York, Washington DC, Atlanta and Toronto in Canada.
