Tepa (Ash), Aug 21, GNA - A Ghanaian resident in the United States of America (USA), Dr Joseph Boateng at the week-end presented sports items worth about 4.3 million cedis to the Tepa Presbyterian Junior Secondary School.
The items include two sets of jerseys, two footballs and an inflator to the school where Dr Boateng started his basic education forty years ago.
Dr Boateng, a native of Koforidua in the Eastern Region promised to send reading books, computers and accessories to support teaching and learning in the school.
He said education is very important in the development of every nation, the society and individuals and therefore called on all Ghanaians to support the government's educational policies to quicken the socio-economic and political development of the country. The Headmaster of the school, Mr Dickson Boadi thanked Dr Boateng for his kind gesture for remembering and appreciating what the school had done for him
Mr Boadi said at the moment, both the primary and JSS are facing a number of problems which include land encroachment, nuisance created by corn-mills sited near the school, erosion and poor sanitation posed by a near-by rubbish dump and a public toilet. He therefore appealed to other past students to emulate Dr Boateng to assist the school develop.
Present at the ceremony were some Presbyters of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, members of the teaching staff and some members of the School Management Committee.
