Elect Best Flagbearer -Holland NPP Chairman urges delegates

The Chairman of the Holland branch of the main opposition New Patriotic Party, Kobby Annang, has urged delegates to the party’s August 7 Congress to rise above any parochial interest, and elect a presidential candidate who is best positioned to secure victory for the party in the 2012 elections.

According to Mr Annang, the 2012 election presents a good opportunity for the party to stage a successful comeback to the corridors of power.

He, however, believes victory will only be possible with the right presidential candidate, who has the ability to bring everybody on board to ensure the unity required for effective campaign.

Mr Annang was speaking at a gathering organized to receive Francis Ejaku Donkoh, Central Regional Youth Organizer of the party, during his visit to Holland to observe the country’s recent general elections.

The NPP Chairman commended the party’s leadership for the decentralization of power to the grass roots, expressing the hope that the recognition given to the party’s grass roots will ginger the rank and file to take active part in the 2012 electioneering campaign.

Francis Ejaku Donkoh exhorted members of the Diaspora branches of the party not to forget their roots, but remain good apostles of the NPP and Ghana at all times.

He assured them that the leadership and membership of the party were doing everything possible to ensure a successful return to power in 2012.

According to Mr Ejaku Donkoh, majority of the electorate had regretted voting the Mills-led National Democratic Congress to power “because the government has clearly demonstrated that is not competent enough to deliver on its numerous promises to the people.”

He, however, told the gathering that the party would deceive itself to think that the failures of the Mills-led NDC government will translate into automatic victory in the 2012 elections.

“It is true that the NDC has failed; it is true the government cannot deliver, but let’s understand that we will have to work our hearts out to defeat the NDC in the 2012 election,” he stressed.
