The fourth annual Ghana Festival of Cincinnati, dubbed Ghana Fest comes off at Cincinnati in Ohio, USA on August 3rd2013. The venue is the spacious compound of the United Wesley Methodist Church on West Kemper Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45240, from 2pm to 9pm. The theme for this year event is, “In Unity Lies Our Strength”.

This annual event is brought to you by courtesy of the Ghana Fest Council of Cincinnati, a conglomerate of all the tribal/regional associations. It is to showcase Ghana's rich culture to the outside world. Moreover, it also a vehicle to introduce Ghana's rich cultural heritage to our children born and bred in the Diaspora. This cultural festival is also an avenue to enable our brothers and sisters to introduce their businesses to the ever growing Ghanaian population in the Greater Cincinnati Metro area. Last year’s event attracted people from all countries and all walks of life, and this year's will be no exception.

Ghana is a country of many tribes and cultures. This festival is therefore a teaching moment for all Ghanaians to learn and appreciate each other’s culture. It is also a vehicle to bring all Ghanaians in the Cincinnati metro area together as one people.

Food and music lovers are in for a treat that day. Our own DJ Coolman will treat the fun goers with the best in Ghana music today. Food vendors will be on site to provide exotic Ghanaian dishes, so make sure you whet your appetite, and come in with an empty stomach. Not missing in action will be arts and craft vendors, ready to display the latest Ghanaian clothing styles.

The climax of the festival will be the durbar of chiefs, where Nana Senti Nyame, the King of the Ghanaian community will sit in state to receive homage from the people. After the chiefs are seated, there will be the parade of the people where all the tribal (regional groups) will march and dance to the tunes of music past the dais. Many invited guests from Ghana and the Ghana missions in Washington D/C and New York will be on hand to grace the occasion. We will also be privileged to have representatives from the Ohio governor’s office, as well as the Cincinnati mayor’s office. Like last year’s edition, there will be music, food, love, peace, merry making and lots of fun. The evening will be capped by The Festival Dance from 9pm to midnight. It is all free. Put on you dancing shoes, and don’t be left out.

The organizing committee cordially invites everybody of Ghanaian descent, Africans and in fact all Cincinnati and beyond, to a taste of Ghanaian culture. Come for fun, meet old buddies and make new friends. I will be there, and so should you. Meet me there.
