Ghana at 58 celebrated in Toronto

Apostles' Continuation Church Banquet Hall in Toronto was the venue for Ghana at 58 Independence celebration. It was held on March 7, 2015 and attended by a cross section of Ghanaian-Canadians and Friends of Ghanaians across the GTA.

The Pathfinders from the Toronto Ghanaian SDA Church and Ghana Methodist Church Youth Brigade entertained the crowd with precision marching to the admiration of all with the New Consul General John Bosco Dery-Kpebesani inspecting guard of honour mounted by them.

Nananom were not left out as they wore resplendent kente costumes. The clergy were also present. Some VIPS from all the 3 levels of government graced the occasion with Mr. Roberto Hausman of Police Foundation Department of Canadian Law Enforcement Training College presenting two set of $20,000 scholarships to those interested in pursuing Police Program. It was received on behalf of the Community by Wofa Yaw Edusei Nyarko, president of Ghanaian Canadian Association of Ontario (GCAO). Allison Asare a poet presented a poem specially written for Ghana. Ghanaian Presbyterian Church choir and the Toronto Methodist Circuit Choir also rendered some patriotic songs. The special cake commemorating Ghana at 58 was cut by the Consul General Mr. Dery-Kpebesani supported by Nananom, the Clergy and GCAO officials. As part of the celebrations an appeal for funds was launched by Ms. Lucy Crentsil a Gospel Singer.
