Ghana’s Minister of Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development (PSD) and President’s Special Initiatives (PSI), Hon. Mr. Alan Kyerematen has urged Ghana’s entrepreneurs to continue to seek new markets for their products. He made this statement at the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Trade Exhibition organised by the National Planning Committee for the Celebration of Ghana’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary in Switzerland in cooperation with the Ghana Permanent Mission, Geneva and the Embassy of Ghana in Berne, Switzerland. He noted that every business involved some amount of risks but pointed out that it was those who were able to take risks who could eventually make it.
2. Earlier on, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative, H.E. Mr. Kwabena Baah-Duodu stressed the importance of the entrepreneurs supplying the orders received in accordance with agreed specifications in order for them to retain their clients. He thanked all those who had contributed to the success of the exhibition.
3. The exhibition, which featured jewellery, skin care products, Ghanaian art and craft, books on Ghana, Ghanaian horticultural products, fabrics and textiles was opened on Saturday, April 14, 2007 by Ambassador Baah-Duodu and Mr. Arthur Plee, Mayor of Grand-Saconnex, Geneva. There was also drumming and dancing by the Ghana all Stars Percussion and Dance Company.
4. As part of the celebration, a well-attended Concert, featuring well-known Ghanaian stars like Kodjo Antwi, Sidney, Wutar, Praye and the Ivorian International Star, Meiway was held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 in Geneva. Both the musicians, exhibitors and members of the National Planning Committee were hosted by the Ambassador at his residence on Sunday, April 22, 2007. The proceeds from the concert are to be used to fund charitable causes in Ghana.
5. It may be recalled that official Receptions were held in Berne and Geneva on March 6 and 9, 2007 respectively to commemorate Ghana’s 50th Independence Anniversary.
