Over 20,000 people thronged the historic Washington park in Chicago on Saturday for the seventeenth annual GhanaFest.
Ghanafest-Chicago, the largest African cultural exposition outside the shores of Africa, was organized by the Ghana National Council and its affiliate organizations.
The event was attended by Ghana?s ambassador to the United States, Mr. Fritz Kwabena Poku (pictured), Father Luois Tuffuor of the Catholic University of Ghana, Mr. Francis Akoto of Ghanaweb International and Ghanaians from all walks of life living in the diaspora.
The ambassador and most of the attendees were unanimous in their opinion that Ghanafest is the single most spectacular Ghanaian cultural festival in the diaspora.
The event was broadcasted live by ABN Satellite Television network and Sika internet radio.
The festival was sponsored by the city of Chicago. The main corporate sponsors are Western union, Annakka Enterprise and Oakley Construction.
