GhanaFest 2004 to be beamed "LIVE"
Chicago -- The most popular and credible Ghanaian news website, Ghanaweb, will beam the largest African cultural shows in North America, Ghanafest 2004 in Chicago, live on the internet on July 31st 2004. The technical crew handling the "live" internet broadcast will be headed by the CEO of Ghanaweb International, Mr. Francis Akoto, Mr. CNN and Mr. Reuben Hadzide.
Also TV broadcast crew will be there to record the program and interview patrons for broadcast in Ghana. Many Ghanaian owned print media will be at the festival. The organizers, Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago officials informed me that they will create a stand for the Ghanaian media abroad.
These came to light when I contacted officials of Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago yesterday.
The organizers has indicated that they will strictly adhere to the program of the festival this year and therefore advised groups and individuals scheduled to perform to be at Washington Park by 11 AM prompt.
To eradicate lateness and conflict in the program schedule for Ghanafest 2004, Chiefs and Queens are requested to show up by 12:30 pm and sit at their respective stands. There will not be procession of Chiefs into the park upon their arrival.
The Ghanafest Brochure booklet which patrons use to receive free will be sold for a dollar ($1.00) each.
For the first time, the most popular DJ in the Midwest, Mr. Yeboah of Millennium sounds fame, will play alongside live band music provided by the Musician union of Ghana, led by Dan Boadi, with a seasoned supporting cast of Asabea Cropper, Sam Ghansa, Joe Atiso and a host of young talented Ghanaian musicians. Shy looking Yeboah, is a master mixer when he is at the controls, releasing a good mixture of the latest and most popular Hip-Hop, Soukous, Highlife etc. to the delight of his numerous fans. An answer to a question on how he is so liked by music fans, Yeboah said ?to keep your fans on the floor, you need to feel them and know the music they want at a particular moment.?
After visiting the Adowa and the Borborbor troupes practicing fervently for the festival, I felt this year's Ghanafest promises to be better than ever.
A delegation of Chiefs, Businessmen and women, district assembly members led by the Omanhene of Cape Coast are scheduled to attend the festival.
