Ghanaian 'Drugs mule' stopped at dublin airport

A 31-year-old Ghanian man was being questioned by garda? tonight after flying into Dublin airport with cocaine valued at ?30,000 concealed internally.

The drugs were found and recovered after the man was X-rayed in hospital.


The suspect had arrived on a flight from Ghana, via Amsterdam.


He had 39 tablets inside his body, weighing a total of 400 grammes.

The incident was the fourth of its kind detected at Dublin airport in the past six months.


A spokesman for the customs service said that people involved in the attempting smuggling activity of that type often died from a drugs overdose when natural stomach acids eroded the packaging on the drugs.


:: Three people were still being interviewed by police in Cork tonight following the seizure of cocaine, ecstasy tablets, cannabis resin and cash at three locations in and around the city.
