Personnel from the Ghanaian media houses who attended an open media forum organised by the Ghana High Commission in the UK have hailed President Mahama for his leadership skills and had work towards the improving upon the quality of lives of Ghanaians.
The president who was on top of a wide range of issues answered questions from the media and in some cases educated them on issues while setting the record straight where necessary on other issues.
When Ato Kwabena aka Brown Eye of Osibisa Radio, London caught up with some of the media personnel from the media houses after the event to find out their overall impression of the answers and responses President Mahama gave, the following had the following to say;
Sammy K of WBLS said, “The president did very very well, on the Ebola issues especially, the president came out so well, lovely stuff. On the Ebola case, I thought he set some records straight.” Asked to rate the president’s performance on the scale of 1 to 10, he rated the president 8.
On his part, ‘Principal’ of Hot Digital FM, London, said, the president did very well, although he would have loved to ask more questions, the answers the president gave to his personal question on corruption and the responses the president gave on other issues were satisfactory. Principal rated the president’s performance 80%.
Amansan Boafo of Amansan FM, Milton Keynes agreed with his colleagues on the president’s performance. According to Amansan, the president performed better than he expected. On the issue of Cocoa Spraying and Ebola, “I thought he explains himself very well and some issues that were not known before came to light. President has been able to establish that there is nothing like NPP and NDC Cocoa. He has also explained very very well the issues surrounding the Ebola Centre in Accra”. He continued, “In my interaction with the deputy minister yesterday, I noted to him that, communicating things the president is doing to the Ghanaian public is where the problem is”
The president charged the media house to help in the fight against corruption. He said the National Service Secretariat scandal was triggered upon a tip off. “I encourage all of you to help fight corruption in Ghana.”
The forum was chaired by H.E. am. Victor Smith, the Ghana High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Also in attendance were H.E. Amb. Dr .Tony Aidoo, Ghana’s representative to the Netherlands and H.E. Amb. Zita Okaikoi, Ghana’s representative to the Republic of Czech.
