Ghanaian Medical Doctor dies in Canada

Dr. Sebastian Addah 61 a practicing Family Physician in Mississauga, Ontario, died on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga. The cause of his death is not yet known.

Dr. S.K. Addah who was the Senior Prefect of Opoku Ware Secondary School, Kumasi-Ghana from 1964 to 1965 has since 1972 excelled in the medical profession as a licensed physician in Canada.

He was an active staff at the Devon General Hospital in Alberta from 1973 to 1986, rising to the position of Chief of the Medical Staff in 1976. From 1987 to 1988, Dr. Addah became a family physician with active privileges at the Mississauga General Hospital in Ontario.

Currently, he is a staff of Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, and the director of the Global Kairos Mission. His experience includes work as an Emergency Physician for 13 years and as a Family Physician for 30 years.

Dr. Addah graduated in Medicine from the University of Alberta after obtaining his first degree from the Universities of Alberta and Toronto. He has since being a member of good standing of the Alberta and Ontario Medical Associations and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

As a community spirited person, Dr. Addah has had extensive counselling and advocacy at his office for numerous Ghanaians with problems relating to marital discord, unjust loss of employment, problems with school, as well as the law and immigration. He has also made donation of medicines, books, medical equipment and computers to Ghana.

Dr. Addah in 2003 received the Ghanaian Canadian Community Achievement Award (Toronto) in Professional Excellence.

Dr. Addah was currently exploring the possibility of establishing a specialist unit at the VRA Hospital at Akosombo in Ghana.

Funeral Arrangement for The Late Dr. Sebastian Addah is as follows;

Viewing of the body will take place at the Neweduk Funeral Home, 1981 Dundas Street West (Dundas @ Erin Mills Park) on Tuesday July 4 from 4-9 pm.

The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday July 5 from 11-12 pm at St. Martin of Tours Parish (905-279-5742) 1290 McBriride Ave. Mississauga.

The Burial will take place immediately after the Funeral Mass at Assumption, Cemetery at 6933 Tomkin Road (Tomkin and Derry Road) Mississauga.
