The Education Council of the Toronto Ghanaian SDA and the Heritage Ghanaian SDA Churches has been awarded $44,500 by the Ontario government in Canada through the African Canadian Christian Network (ACCN) to continue its after school program/community computer literacy in the Jane/Finch and Rexdale neighborhoods of Toronto.

The Council's project- PREVENTING BLACK YOUTH FROM FALLING TROUGH THE CRACKS- was funded by the ACCN during the past 18 months for $67,000. It was as a result of the good management of the funds by the Council and the continuous good and hard work of the project organizers at the Brookview Middle School in the Jane/Finch area and at 285 Attwell Drive (computer literacy program) that the Ghanaian SDA Churches in Toronto have been given another $44,500 for one more year to continue the good work in the community. This brings the total grant received by the Education Council from ACCN so far to $111,500.

The official presentation of the second grant was done by Hon. Deb Matthews, Minister of Children and Youth Services, Ontario at a press conference held in Toronto on Wednesday, June 18, 2008. Also present at the ceremony was Hon. (Mrs.) Mary-Anne Chambers, former Ontario Minister for Children and Youth Services.

Over 50 students in the Jane/Finch area of Toronto have so far benefitted from the project. The Education Council will be organizing a Summer School program at 285 Attwell Drive, Toronto for students this July as part of its project. To God be the glory
