Sunyani (B/A), May 22, GNA - Ghanaian-born Dr Fred Yamoah, Vice-Principal of the City of London Business College in London, has advised students to further their education abroad to ensure international job security.

He said their education abroad would also help them to become current in global economic trends.

Dr Yamoah gave the advice at a one-day seminar organised by the College at the Sunyani Polytechnic at the weekend. He reiterated that quality education must be a national asset and priority to the people to empower them, particularly the youth, for development.

The Vice-Principal noted that the scale of the country's development was based on the quality of education achieved and urged them to continue to improve infrastructure and provide adequate learning materials in educational institutions.

Dr Yamoah commended government for the capitation grant policy and expressed optimism that parents would take advantage and enrolled their children in schools so that they could become more marketable. Mr Osei Asibey Kwarteng, Principal and Proprietor of the College expressed concern about the lack of trustworthiness among Ghanaians, which he said had deterred Ghanaians living abroad to send money down to their families for developmental projects.

He advised parents to invest much in the education of their children and announced that plans were afoot to establish branches of the College in Kumasi and Accra to enable students who could not afford to study abroad to have that opportunity in Ghana.

"Without proper education, people would be stranded and would continue to wallow in abject poverty", Mr. Kwarteng added. He mentioned the lack of working experience as the major challenge facing Ghanaian intellectuals and stressed the need to link the theory and practical aspects of education to guarantee job security.

The College, established in 1990, offers courses in Health, Business Management and Information Communication Technology (ICT).
