Say He Is A Disgrace To Mother Ghana

Ghanaians in Diaspora, particularly the student community, have taken a swipe at the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. William Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for what they describe as his amoral behavior and disdain for Ghanaian women.

According to them, the NPP leader has, on persistent basis, exhibited the greatest insolence towards Ghanaian women ever since he came into the limelight in 2008 as the Presidential candidate of his party, and presently as the flagbearer.

Speaking to The Informer via telephone over the weekend from the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK, the entire student Union from Ghana condemns Akufo-Addo for his weak sexual morals, saying he is a disgrace to Mother Ghana. “As the leader of the largest opposition party in Ghana, as well as someone who is vying for the highest office of the land, he is expected to know better, particularly, his association with women in public; but his continuous misbehaviour is unfortunate”, they pointed out.

“He is an affront to the deep cultural heritage of our land, having decided as a leader, not to observe any sanity as regards his sexual dexterity and feelings towards women, hence his consistent abuse of Ghanaian women”, the students stated further.

“If he is not in the news for eulogizing the bottoms of dead party woman, then he is making reference to our ‘Zongo’ women as those who can determine his strength or fondling and groping of women publicly, like the last video on YouTube, that has become a source of worry to many studying abroad, and a disgrace to our country”, they added.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghanaian Students Union at the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK, Onasis Kobby, on his part, expressed worry and disappointment about the recent behavior of the NPP leader, saying it is most unfortunate and absolutely sacrilegious on the part of the NPP leader, who wants at all cost, to become the President of Ghana.

According to him, he happened to access the video in a group discussion out of curiosity, and unfortunately he was embarrassed with what he saw, which has since aggravated comments from the group members, especially, those from Liberia, Columbia, Nigeria, Uganda, UK and Venezuela. “One member could not fathom why any man could hold or touch a lady in that manner for the service of “making him up”, he stated. According to Onassis, the colleague suggested that the woman (the make-up artist) seeks redress for a sexual assault, since she was caught unaware and protested with her action.

“In fact, the video did not only soil the reputation of the NPP leader, but also to a large extent, did plunge his image into unacceptable level; and I have no option than to, on behalf of my colleagues send a strong appeal to the various gender activists, feminists, religious leaders and well-meaning NGOs to immediately call Akufo-Addo to order”, Onassis added.

“He also render an unqualified apology to the women of Ghana”, and says, his call is against the backdrop of the fact that the expose’ on the world-wide social networks, YouTube and facebook has attracted an international backlash with other nationals questioning our most touted virtues, norms and culture, he concludes.

Surprisingly, the NPP particularly, its Communications Director, Nana Akomea sees nothing wrong with this unpleasant behavior of his party’s flagbearer. Instead, Akomea says his leader was only showing affection to the make-up artist.

It is on the basis of this awful conduct of the NPP flagbearer, why we think he should refrain from comments like daring President Mills to challenge his public records; which; will further deepen his woes as with regards to his badly soiled image.
