Reports say that about 5,000 Ghanaians resident in Israel are shedding tears of pain and anguish as the authorities there have unleashed a reign of terror on them.

It says within the last eight months as many as 120 Ghanaian residents have been sent back home because they do not have the relevant papers.

A Ghanaian resident in Tel Aviv, Mr. James Kwame Aboagye, who disclosed this to the paper in a telephone interview said African illegal immigrants are being treated like animals by the Israeli authorities.

“They come to your house, arrest you and take you away. You are not even allowed to close your door and by the time your friends get to your place to pack your things, everything would have been looted”.

Mr. Aboagye, in addition, told the paper that the diplomatic missions of some West African States including La cote d’Ivoire have managed to plead for their citizens and the Israeli authorities have given them some respect.

He alleged that the Ghana mission in Israel has flatly refused to help the Ghanaian Community there.

“As a result we have sent a petition directly to President Kufuor and we hope that he will act quickly to save us from the wicked punishment we are suffering here” he said.
